Modern Genre;

these few images are from my modern genre shoot. this tea pot and cups and saucers are definitely a favourite for me. I really like the focusing on this image and putting it in black and white makes the contrast a lot stronger and striking. i really like this. Because this photo is from the modern genre shoot, i wanted to put instagram styled filters on my photographs. i edited this by turning this photo black and white, and then putting the contrast up quite high.

 

this is another photo i have taken for the modern genre shoot. Because i did the shoot on my my average day, i photographs everything i did through out the day. including breakfast, lunch, college and walking the dog. I didn't edit this photo on photo shop using tilt shift, it turned out like this when i took the photo and really liked it.

This is another one of my photographs from the modern genre shoot that i quite liked. obviously this photo is of making breakfast, and although the photo is very simple, i think its really effective. i really like the angle i have taken the photo from, and also the focusing of the bread and the background. i think it works well in the instagram/ modern genre category.

Photoshop- Invert

To do this is very simple. you load your image on to photoshop, go to adjustments and scroll down to invert and it inverts the image.

Photoshop- Filter

For this, I used the blur filter because I thought it made the photo look a bit more interesting. to do this i went on filter and down to blur. then i could choose how blurred i wanted the photo.

Photoshop- Hue and Saturation

With this, I which changed the colours in the photo, and it changed them to turquoise and purple. I liked this affect, it made the image look a bit abstract. I then turned down the hue so that the colours weren't so bright.
 

Photoshop- Curves

For this, I raised the curves, which made the photograph quite a bit darker. I liked it because it made it look more like a tunnel. And it made the light at the end a lot more visible.

Street Ghosts

Life-sized pictures of people found on Google's Street View were printed and posted without authorization at the same spot where they were taken. The posters are printed in color on thin paper, cut along the outline, and then affixed with wheatpaste on the walls of public buildings at the precise spot on the wall where they appear in Google’s Street View image.

"As the publicly accessible pictures are of individuals taken without their permission, I reversed the act: I took the pictures of individuals without Google's permission and posted them on public walls. Alexander McQueen- Spray paint dress

 

 

For this, Alexander McQueen made a completely plain white dress. Got a model to waer it in the middle of the catwalk and then 2 robotic arms sprayed the model as she rotated round on a platform. the robots sprayed the dress with a mixture of yellow and black paint. the outcome was amazing, the paint had dripped down and had a very unique outcome. the main reason McQueen did this was because no one else could copy him. Because even if someome made a white dress identical, it's impossible for them to hget the spray paint to look exactly the same.

My Photography

This is one of my favourite photographs that I have taken myself. This is from my documentary photography project, when i did lifestyle photography. For this project I got my inspiration from Kaylynn Deveney because she took photos of an old man throughout his day, and photographed everything he did. I took inspiration from that and took photos of my younger brother through out his day.

The Pen Story

Olympus is promoting the reintroduction of the PEN camera with “The Pen Story”, a stop motion film showing a boy’s journey through time to adulthood. The original PEN, released in 1959, was a compact half-frame camera, with just a viewfinder, no meter and fully manual settings. Olympus had the challenge of demonstrating the continuity between that model and the new digital PEN EP-1, an interchangeable lens Micro Four Thirds system digital camera with an external design clearly inspired by the traditional PEN series. This video advertisement was very cleverly made. it was made by someone taking hundreds of photos of hundreds of photos. It's very hard to explain, but once you've seen the video you can see how clever and unique it is.

David Hockney

David Hockney is one of the worlds most well known artists. his use of bright colours and pop art style work has made his work very original and iconic.

But over the last 5 years, Hockney has traded in his canvas and paintbrushes for an apple ipad and iphone. Hockney first discovered the iPhone in the winter of 2008. “I was fascinated by it, because I think it’s a stunning visual tool,” he says. “It took a while to master how to get thicker and thinner lines, transparency and soft edges. But then I realised that it had marvellous advantages.” He uses an app called Brushes. “People keep sending me new drawings apps to try out, but once you get used to one it’s sufficient.”

Hockney made the drawings mainly with the edge of his thumb; you can’t use the thumbnail, he says, because the device is sensitive to heat, not just touch. He sends these ipad drawings to friends, who then pass them on, collect them or do whatever they want.
Each image as it appears on another iPhone or laptop is virtually identical to the original, although Hockney points out that even with a manufactured item such as this, there will probably be small differences.
